How To: The Two Ingredient Contrast Makeover

Posted: Aug 20 2014

Color is scary to a lot of folks.  The end result of many purchases and upgrades tend to result in two scenarios:  a whole lot of beige or way too matchy-matchy.

STEP 1: LOOK AROUND YOUR ROOM

First, step back and understand the current color scheme in your room

STEP 2:  PICK A NON-MATCHING OR HEAVILY SATURATED COLOR

Now, select a color in direct contrast of that scheme - we repeat - a color that does not match or something super saturated, we love warm hues like yellow, orange, pink, or red. We like vibrant, unapologetic shades.

STEP 3: THE TWO INGREDIENT MAKE-OVER

Pick out a throw pillow and one accent item in the shade of your new contrasting brilliant hue. The accent can be as simple as a vase of flowers, a painting, a nick-nack, or even spray-paint a piece of furniture.
